No aid or extended benefits to encourage table tennis players with different abilities: Bharti Ghosh – Siliguri Times

Siliguri, September 03: State witnessed success in different sports arenas where players have brought huge success to the state and the city. However, table tennis players with different abilities do not receive any support from the government. Table tennis star and Banga Ratna award winner Bharti Ghosh spoke about the matter at a press conference today.

Siliguri is called the hub of table tennis life center where players like Soumjeet and Ankita have competed in Siliguri table tennis representing the country at international levels like Commonwealth, Olympics. Last month, August 28, in the West Bengal Table Tennis Championship for the Deaf, five players with different abilities participated and won medals. But no one came forward to encourage or congratulate them. Bharti Ghosh and fitness trainer Dev Kumar Dey trained all the players against various obstacles.

Bharti Ghosh and Dev Kumar Dey congratulated the players who achieved success in various categories of the table tennis competition today. Ghosh said many Siliguri players participate in various competitions and win medals. But there is no encouragement from anyone for players with different abilities. She further criticized the government for its lack of initiative and cooperation. Not a few days ago, during the national table tennis competition for the deaf, competitors from different categories achieved success. It is alleged that they have always been deprived of facilities and basic necessities which the people and the government should provide for them.

She added that development is not possible if the government or the people do not pay attention to actors with different capacities. Therefore, she called on everyone to reach out for cooperation. Every year, good players emerge from Siliguri and India, but just being differently capable, they are deprived of proper benefits and promotions.
