GAF table tennis players show their class at the Homowo Championship

Corporal Celia Baah Danso and Corporal Eva Adom Amankwah, both of the Ghana Armed Forces Table Tennis Team, excelled massively picking first and second positions respectively in the recently completed GT. Accra Table Tennis Homowo Championship.

The championship hosted by the Greater Accra Table Tennis Association on Saturday August 27, 2022 at the Accra Sports Stadium was focused on celebrating the ‘Ga Homowo’ celebrations in the capital.

The event was also part of the association’s objective of unearthing talent and promoting the sport in the region.

Ghana Immigration’s Cynthia Kwabi who represented the country at the recently concluded 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham was no test for Celia Baah Danso as she beat her 3-0 to book his last place.

Eva Adom Amankwah also qualified for the final after a 3-1 victory over Emerald Bortey in the semi-final.

The two GAF players delighted fans and table tennis enthusiasts with their rallies as they both showed a high level of sportsmanship in the grand final.

Celia, the 2020 President’s Cup winner, however, managed to get away with tough rallies against her counterpart, Eva Adom Amankwah.

The match was decided as a best of 5, settled 3-0 in favor of the sensational Celia Baah Danso.

Celia Baah Danso’s win has been described as a big comeback in her table tennis career.

She won a medal, a trophy and a cash prize.

Eva Adom Amankwah, who finished second, also won a medal and a cash prize.
