MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has addressed his welcome message to the organizers and participating players of the St. Petersburg Women’s Trophy 2022, which kicked off in Russia’s second-largest city on Monday.
“These prestigious competitions have once again brought together on the courts of the famous Sibur Arena the strongest and most renowned female tennis players from all over the world,” Putin said in a message posted on the Kremlin’s official website.
“Spectacular and tense confrontations, the masterful play of the participants and their competitive courage have rightly become the calling card of the tournament, which continues to grow and reaffirms its popularity among spectators every year,” said the Russian president.
“Thanks to these magnificent sports festivals, more and more people, especially young people, decide to take up tennis, turn to fitness and a healthy lifestyle,” Putin added.
The tournament takes place from February 7 to 13 and brings together the world’s best female tennis stars.
