SINGAPORE – Local sports fans now have another option to watch their favorite live events after StarHub announced on Friday (October 22) that it will be launching two dedicated sports channels, SPOTV and SPOTV 2 (channels 205 and 206).
The channels, also available to stream on mobile phones, will broadcast Wimbledon tennis and the US Open as well as the British Open, European Tour and Asian Tour of golf, among others.
StarHub subscribers can also attend other ATP and WTA, World Table Tennis and MotoGP tournaments live on the channels, which Singtel TV customers could do from October 11.
This follows the shutdown of Fox Sports channels in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong on October 1, a move that has frustrated many sports fans, especially those who are passionate about F1, tennis and golf.
StarHub’s other sporting offerings include the T20 Cricket World Cup, Bundesliga, La Liga, French Ligue 1, National Basketball Association, UFC, and World Wrestling Entertainment.
All current StarHub Sports + and Sports Pass subscribers can access the channels at no additional cost, while all StarHub Entertainment customers will receive a free channel preview from October 22 through November 5.
After that, the Sports + Pass is available for $ 20 per month on a two-year plan.
The same two SPOTV channels were launched by Singtel TV on Ch114 and Ch115 on October 11, and all of its customers are enjoying free previews of both until November 8.
