Tennis South Africa (TSA) Wednesday confirmed Andre Homan as the new CEO.

Homan, former commercial director of the Golden Lions Rugby Union, replaces Richard Glover, who stepped down at the end of 2021 after five years at the helm.

A statement from the tennis governing body read: “André brings with him a wealth of academic and practical knowledge. He has extensive experience in the sports and events industries and holds two Bachelor of Arts with Distinction and an MBA.

“Homan joins TSA as Director of Sales and Hospitality for Circa, a leading company specializing in commercial ventures related to major events and stadiums, including Ellis Park. He previously worked as Commercial Director for Lions Rugby, as project manager at SA Rugby Union and as commercial director of Stadium Management South Africa.

“Andre was also the Managing Director of the Golden Lions Rugby Union’s amateur arm – managing school, club, youth development and training programs at grassroots and elite level for over 10 years. The long interest de Homan for sport is also highlighted by his career as a provincial rugby player for the Leopards and Lions and his qualifications as a coach/official in rugby and athletics.”

Homan, who will take up his new role on February 1, said he was “delighted and honored” to receive the support of the TSA board of directors.

“With the rich history of the federation and its many successes over the past few years, this is an exciting time for tennis. Despite the many challenges facing sports organizations in South Africa, I believe there is a Huge opportunity to grow the game and make it more accessible and inclusive.

“I look forward to working closely with the tennis fraternity and plan to take on the task of helping the various TSA stakeholders achieve their goals with enthusiasm and vigour.”

President of the TSA Gavin Crookes praised Glover’s contribution and welcomed Homan’s nomination.

“The Board and I look forward to working with Andre to take South African tennis to the next level, building on the strong platform created by Richard Glover. I would love to take this opportunity to warmly thank Richard for all his work for the TSA and to wish André every success in his new role.”
